On
August 1st, I will begin my new ministry as pastor of Colby UMC. I am
sad to say goodbye to many people that I have enjoyed knowing through
these 13 years of ministry.
Almost everyone says "Where's Colby?"
It's exactly 20 miles from my house in Ballard and a $25 round trip
ferry ride away from W. Seattle to Southworth, on the peninsula north
of Gig Harbor and south of Port Orchard along Puget Sound. The church
is one lot up from the sound and looks over to Blake Island. The
parsonage is huge and will make me believe that I do not have too much
stuff!!! It's up a hill and in the woods. Driving away from the house
you look across to the distant skyline of Seattle.
The church has two services with 75 attendees total, mainly middle age
folks, few children. They want to grow. They are very energetic with a
sewer's group that raises money for missions, a monthly meal for
seniors, a pre-school associated with a community college, a zeal for
Bible study etc.
For all the students I have known through the years, I will no longer be the Wesley Campus
Minister, but will remain an interested
part
of our United Methodist connection with a real concern to hear about
your lives and changes. You are welcome to visit Colby and I will
include my addresses here for you. I will remain a Facebook presence.
Don't ask me why. It seems a fun way to see what folks are up to.
